Publications

The society publishes its quarterly journal, The Essex Genealogist (or TEG), in February, May, August and November. A subscription to the journal is included in the annual membership dues. TEG features articles on people, historical places, research facilities and holding, and events in Essex County. Member's Ahnentafels, queries, research in progress and letters from readers, are among our other regular features. Members are encouraged to submit articles.

The Society newsletter, ESOG News, is also included with membership and is published in March, June, September, and December. The newsletter keeps members up to date on the Society's coming events as well as meetings and conferences sponsored by other societies. Other items of interest and information not found in the journal, are presented here.

The society has published the following books available for sale

Essex County Cemetery Guide Prepared by the Society, it is a comprehensive guide to the location of cemeteries in each Essex County town, as well as the location of those cemetery records. It does not list individuals buried in those cemeteries.

These records are a rich source of names complete with details of the transactions and the properties involved. Records contain (as available) the full names of both the buyer and the seller in bold type, the date of the transaction, a description of the property including its location, payment(s) and (as available) witnesses. The full name index is a bonus for researchers.

The Research Committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the Lynnfield Public Library in the genealogy room.
